Hi and Greetings viewers !
What am I going to talk is about the Introduction of Microbiology that Dr. Wan Zuhainis have taught me and my classmate. But not only that, also much more extra information that Dr. Wan have told us !
First of all, in this chapter we have been taught
about basic microbiology introduction including the definition of microbiology
itself. “Microbe” is called microorganism or “germ”. It was also a living
things that were usually small to seen with unaided eyes except by using
microscope. Futher than that, there were also a group of microbe kingdom
including bacteria, virus, fungi, algae and protozoa. Each group of kingdom
have a different specification on their organelle. For an example some group of
kingdom that were originated from prokaryotes ancestry which is without nucleus
cell and some of them from eukaryotes ancestry. For an examples of algae was
algaebloom that is toxic to small fish where we usually can found it on top of
the pond. Algaebloom also been able to make biofuel.
Along the lecture in these topic,
we also have been introduced about many types of microbe including “Watermelon
Snow” algae which is a new thing we ever heard about. First lecture was totally
amazed us! We doing some of in-class assignment through padlet.com website and
at the same time it was really fun.
Figure :
Watermelon snow algae
We also has been asked to do a 2 minutes self video
recording based on the question about “What do you know about microbiology?”
and “What do you want to know about microbiology?”. Yeah we knew that nowadays
people likes to do a video of them self, so it is not impossible for us not to
finished. Haha! Not only that, we were also have been asked to watch a video
about bacteria together with the questions prepared in edpuzzle.com website.
Other that, there was also part where we have been
taught and learned about the history related to microbe such as Van Leeuwenhoek
that proposed life arise spontaneously from non-living matter. Although this
statement were proved wrong, it pique somebody such as Robert Hooke to study more about organism.
What was interesting in Dr. Wan’s first topic class
was, she gave us an extra information to find such as pleomorphic, microplasma,
thermoplasma and also vampyrellid. These microbe has different specification
such as microplasma was the smallest bacteria in the world and it was walless
where it able do change it shape into many type of shape including star and
much more.
Last but not least, a very amazing moment where at
last of the lecture in this topic, we have do some quizzes through kahoot.it
website which is a type of online games quiz. This what we called a fabulous
class we have ever had! The quizzes is all about introduction of microbiology.
As a conclusions, microbes did effect our lives
based on the history and also the discovery of many types of micbrobes that can
cause diseases and pathogens around us.
I’m looking foward for the next lecture !
